Hot Tub Stays Around Newark, Retford and Sherwood Forest
Nottinghamshire is not the first county people think of for a hot tub break, which tends to mean better availability and lower prices than the Lake District or the Cotswolds. The landscape is gentle rather than dramatic, rolling farmland between the Trent Valley and the edges of Sherwood Forest, with Newark, Southwell, and Retford providing the day-trip structure without the tourist crowds.
Most of the accommodation sits on working farms and country estates rather than purpose-built holiday parks. Around Newark, that means converted barns on courtyard sites with hot tubs facing open fields. Near Retford, the Chesterfield Canal runs through a proper market town with shops and pubs, and the shepherd's huts in Grove village sit on farmland just outside it. The trade-off across both areas is quiet lanes and limited phone signal once you leave the A-roads, so pack a car and do not rely on last-minute food deliveries.
Sherwood Forest is the obvious day out and sits roughly central to the whole list. Southwell Minster, Clumber Park, Newark Castle, and the National Civil War Centre are all worth a morning. Lincoln Cathedral is about 30 minutes east, and Nottingham city centre is the same distance south if you want theatres, restaurants, or shopping. The A1 and A46 make access straightforward from most directions, and Newark Northgate has main-line rail connections to London and the north.
