Hotels you can book at 18 in Colorado Springs

By Alexander Backus · Updated August 2026

The worst version of this trip ends at a Colorado Springs front desk, with your ID in your hand and the clerk saying check-in is 21 and over. The booking goes through fine, and nobody warns you the refusal comes at the end. Every hotel below takes 18-year-olds, so pick one and skip that conversation.

Airport, Air Force Academy, or downtown: pick your base

Most of the 18+ hotels on this page announce their area in the name.

  • Airport in the name: the southeast side, by COS off I-25 at exit 135. The late-arrival, early-flight base.
  • Air Force Academy or I-25 North in the name: the north edge of the city, near the Academy. The base for Academy visits and north-side plans.
  • Neither in the name: a standalone spot, usually in or near the downtown grid. Check the location before you book.

This is not a motel-only list. It runs from basic two-stars to four-star hotels, so being 18 does not mean settling for the worst room in town. Whichever base you pick, have your ID and a card ready at the desk.

COS is close to town, but there is no airport train

Colorado Springs Airport sits about 12 miles southeast of downtown, and the drive runs about 20 minutes in normal traffic. Take I-25 to exit 135 and the access road does the rest. This is not one of those airports that eats an hour just reaching the city.

What COS does not have is a train. No rail line serves the airport, so the last 12 miles are car, rideshare, or a Mountain Metro bus. Plan the ride before you land, especially for a late arrival. If your flight gets in after dark, an airport hotel puts you minutes from the terminal instead of a cross-town ride when you are tired.

Colorado Springs questions

Are there 18+ hotels near the Air Force Academy?

Yes. The Academy sits at the north edge of the city by I-25, and the hotels with Air Force Academy or I-25 North in the name are the ones up there. Every hotel on this page takes 18-year-olds, so if the trip points north, that side is yours.

Do you need a car in Colorado Springs?

It helps. The city stretches along I-25, with the airport to the southeast, downtown in the middle, and the Academy to the north, and there is no rail backup. Mountain Metro buses cover the main corridors, but Garden of the Gods sits northwest of downtown and Pikes Peak is west of the city, and neither is a walk from your hotel. Rideshare covers a downtown weekend. For the big scenery days, budget for a car or a tour.

Is the altitude a real thing in Colorado Springs?

Real, but manageable. Downtown sits at 6,035 feet, and Pikes Peak just west rises to 14,115 feet. Take the first day easy, keep a water bottle close, and save the summit for day two. Stairs will humble you on day one, and that is normal.
