Minnesota hotels for 18-year-olds

By Alexander Backus · Updated August 2026

An online reservation does not guarantee you can check into a Minnesota hotel at 18. The hotel may still turn you away if it requires guests to be 21. Use the cities below to keep the hotel search in the right part of Minnesota.

Twin Cities or southern Minnesota?

Minneapolis and Saint Paul make up the Twin Cities metro. Rochester is southern Minnesota's largest city and sits 85 miles southeast of the Twin Cities.

U.S. Highway 52 connects Saint Paul and Rochester, but the 85-mile gap still makes them separate hotel bases. An 18+ hotel in the Twin Cities can solve the age problem and still leave you far from Rochester.

The Twin Cities have two downtowns

Minneapolis and Saint Paul share one metro name, but each has its own downtown. The METRO Green Line train runs between Target Field in downtown Minneapolis and Union Depot in downtown Saint Paul.

The rail route spans nearly 10 miles. It gives you a direct connection when plans cover both cities, but a hotel in one downtown and most of the trip in the other puts the full cross-city ride into the day.
