Fargo's 3% lodging tax on stays under 30 days
Hotel stays in Fargo have a 7.75% sales tax, but that isn't the full tax cost of a short stay. The city also collects a 3% lodging tax, so a budget based on sales tax alone will miss part of the bill.
- The lodging tax applies to rooms within Fargo city limits occupied for fewer than 30 consecutive calendar days.
- On a hypothetical taxable $100 room charge, this levy adds $3 by itself. Sales tax and any other applicable charges are additional to that example.
A quote that already includes taxes has accounted for charges a base room price leaves out. Compare the amounts on the same basis, without adding the lodging levy again when it's already included.
Hotels around Sanford on Broadway and 23rd Avenue
Sanford Broadway Medical Center is downtown at 801 Broadway N. On its north side, the Broadway Clinic has shops, restaurants and boutique hotels within walking distance. If your appointments are at that clinic, a downtown room can put lodging and meals in the same area as your visits.
Sanford Medical Center Fargo is at 5225 23rd Ave. S., by Interstate 94 (I-94) and Veterans Boulevard. This medical center has its own surrounding restaurants and grocery stores, with some hotels within an easy walk. For a medical stay, compare each hotel's location with the facility on your appointment details. The lodging around Broadway and the lodging around 23rd Avenue serve different destinations.
An NDSU overnight invitation needs roommate approval
Talk to your friend before ruling out a hotel for a North Dakota State University (NDSU) visit. Their roommate or roommates have to agree to an overnight guest in the residence hall, so an invitation alone isn't enough.
Guests also have to be escorted in the halls at all hours. Before relying on that room, agree with your friend on when they can accompany you, including any time you would otherwise be there while they're busy elsewhere. If you need to come and go independently, an 18+ hotel is another way to stay in Fargo.
