Tulsa
The Heartland Flyer train reaches the capital
Oklahoma City, or OKC, is the state capital in central Oklahoma. Tulsa lies in the northeast. Amtrak's Heartland Flyer ends in Oklahoma City without continuing to Tulsa. If either city would suit your trip, staying in Oklahoma City keeps your overnight destination at the train's endpoint and removes the need for another intercity journey.
A trip that needs to be in Tulsa calls for a separate onward travel arrangement after a Heartland Flyer arrival. Settle that part before reserving your Tulsa accommodation. Booking a room in Oklahoma City instead would leave you sleeping in a different city from the one your trip depends on.
Staying downtown for Bricktown or the Arena District
Downtown Oklahoma City has hotels within walking distance of the Oklahoma City Convention Center and Bricktown, its entertainment district. That makes downtown lodging worth considering when those places are the focus of your stay. Hotels also sit in separate airport, northern and other city areas, so the downtown walking setting doesn't extend to every Oklahoma City room.
Tulsa's downtown combines nearby lodging with walkable restaurant and entertainment districts. On its western side, the Arena District contains the BOK Center, an event arena, and the Arvest Convention Center. If your visit centers on a performance or convention there, a downtown room can also suit plans to dine out and enjoy other entertainment in the area.
For either city, compare the hotel's actual location with the places you want to reach on foot. Being able to check in at 18 doesn't tell you whether that particular hotel is in one of these walking areas. The age policy and the location both need to fit.
