A downtown room for walks to Falls Park

Sioux Falls is in southeastern South Dakota. Its downtown hotels are within a short walk of Falls Park, local shops and restaurants.

If you want to walk to the falls and to dinner during your stay, look for a downtown room.

South Dakota's tourism tax lasts beyond summer

An ordinary hotel visit of fewer than 28 consecutive days carries South Dakota's 1.5% tourism tax, whether you travel in January or July. The summer-only timing that applies to some visitor businesses doesn't apply to hotel rooms.

On a hypothetical $120 taxable room charge, allow $1.80 for this tax alone. State and applicable local taxes and other charges are separate. A quote that already includes the tourism tax has accounted for that component of the room cost.
