Hotels in Memphis that allow 18-year-olds

By Alexander Backus · Updated August 2026

You can pay for a Memphis room at 18 and still hear at the front desk that check-in starts at 21. The confirmation email can arrive before the front desk checks your age, so a paid room is not a guaranteed key. The hotels here check in 18-year-olds, so go ahead and book one.

I-40 east and Elvis Presley Boulevard point toward different trips

Wolfchase is the retail area in Cordova, the Memphis community where I-40 meets Germantown Parkway. Hotels around that junction sit roughly 18 road miles east of downtown, and the interstate continues toward Bartlett, a separate suburb.

Elvis Presley Boulevard, the renamed Highway 51 South, runs to Graceland in Whitehaven, about 9 miles from downtown and less than four miles north of the Mississippi border. A room near either road comes with a commute to wherever the rest of the trip happens, so the search for 18+ hotels starts with the direction of the trip, not with a central base.

MEM sits seven miles southeast of downtown

Drivers reach Memphis International Airport (MEM) from I-240 via Plough Boulevard. The terminal sits seven miles southeast of downtown, so a hotel near the airport keeps the runway close and puts downtown a drive away.

An early flight or a quick turnaround makes the airport side the easy call. For a trip built around downtown, that seven-mile drive becomes part of every outing.

Route 28 connects the airport to downtown only during the day

Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) Route 28 links Memphis International Airport (MEM) to the Hudson Transit Center downtown, with the Airways Transit Center as an intermediate stop on the way. Service is daytime only.

A car-free airport-to-downtown plan works inside that daytime window and not outside it. An airport-side stay makes sense when the flight and the bus line up, and for a later arrival the bus is not an option.

Check Beale Street's posted evening rules before booking downtown

Beale Street is the downtown entertainment district, and its posted entry rules tighten through the evening. After 8pm, entry is 21+ unless a legal parent or guardian is with you, and after 11pm everyone must be 21+ with valid ID.

The rules change what an 18-year-old can plan downtown. The early evening is open, a parent or guardian extends the window past 8pm, and the post-11pm stretch is not part of the plan. On select Friday, Saturday and holiday nights, a $5 Beale Street Security Fee also applies. Those rules shape the evening, and 18 does not shut the district out entirely.
