Winter warmth varies along the Florida peninsula

For a January hotel stay whose main appeal is warmth, Miami has the warmest climate of these three cities. The average daily high is about 76°F and the low is 61°F. Tampa averages about 71°F and 53°F, while Jacksonville averages 66°F and 43°F. Their average lows differ more than their highs, so the city choice matters for mild winter nights as well as warm afternoons.

July brings a much closer comparison. The average daily high is about 91°F in both Miami and Tampa, and 92°F in Jacksonville. A summer hotel search aimed at cooler days has little reason to favor Jacksonville on those averages. These figures are 1991-2020 air-temperature averages from airport weather stations. They don't predict the weather for your dates or tell you how warm the water will feel.
