Cambridge visitor permits aren't hotel parking passes

An empty space on a residential street isn't much use if it's marked for permit holders only and you have no permit. A Cambridge resident's visitor permit is restricted to visiting that person's home, within the zone printed on the permit. It must go back to the resident when the visit ends. Booking a hotel room doesn't qualify you for it.

If you're visiting a friend in a dorm, there's a further catch. Dormitory residents cannot get the city's visitor parking permits, so that friend can't provide one for your visit. Before committing to a room, ask the hotel what parking you can arrange for the stay. If the plan depended on borrowing a visitor permit, you'll need another parking arrangement or a trip without the car.
